Bakeological combines my two great passions: Baking and The Environment.

With a background in the energy business, I am a Swedish mother living in a busy city. Baking is how I stay sane - for I believe that creating a hand-made loaf of bread, or scrumptious cake, is healthy for the soul and a force for good in the world.

I learnt to bake as a little girl, helping my grandmother whip up Swedish cakes, buns and cookies. My pappa is also a great baker and he taught me the art of sourdough.

Now that I am a mother I am acutely aware that the greatest asset we pass on to our children is the planet. I want my kids to enjoy the same healthy oceans, forests and fields that I did growing up.

How do we navigate the overwhelming amount of (often negative) information on the environmental challenges we face? We all need a support network to educate and encourage ourselves to live more green. A fun, user friendly community that is as welcoming as freshly baked bread.

Many years ago, at a sustainability conference, I learnt a brilliant technique to get people through the door and engage with serious subjects: offer them cake! This method stuck with me through my years working at EDF Energy. Colleagues would come to my meetings, eager to taste my bakes, creating an upbeat, productive mood in which we would talk energy.

Lightbulb moment! Well, I thought - why not use this same technique to connect with a wider audience and create a friendly, accessible, online community where we can teach each other how to play our part in safeguarding our planet? A green haven that officially makes baking a force for good. After all, the quickest way to someone's heart is through their stomach!

That’s why I founded Bakeological; a movement born to help you live greener using the love of baking. I invite you to join me on a journey as I explore green issues, interview environmentalists and offer you useful eco tips alongside all my yummy recipes. Please get involved! Together, let's bake our world a better place.
